Company History

ROBCO Incorporated was founded over 50 years ago by the late Bill Dabney and Howard Snyder. It was a partnership that dated back to their junior high school days in Dallas, and continued on to Southern Methodist University, where they graduated with engineering degrees in 1944.

Following service in World War II, they began their careers as outside sales engineers with a Dallas based manufacturer’s representative agency. In 1952, while working as reps they had an opportunity to purchase an equity position in Roberts Manufacturing, a manufacturer of commercial pillow blocks and flange bearing units, located in Salina Kansas. Within several years they turned Roberts into a nationally recognized supplier of commercial grade bearings.

In late 1958, Bill and Howard resigned from the rep agency to concentrate on the day to day management of Roberts. On January 1, 1959, ROBCO, short for the Robert’s Company, was incorporated to act as a sales agency covering the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Louisiana.

During the 1960’s Robco became a well-recognized, independent sales agency focusing on the sale of mechanical power transmission and bearing products to distributors and OEM’s. In 1968, Roberts Manufacturing was sold to Federal Mogul Corporation. The sale, afforded Bill and Howard more time to focus on Robco and the sales and warehousing side of the business. The late 60’s and early 70’s proved to be milestone years as it marked the arrival of Homer Rodden and Owen Stone whose names soon became synonymous with Robco. Under their leadership, Robco continued to grow while adapting to the challenges and changes taking place within the industrial marketplace.

Today as part of our legacy we continue to embrace their core principals and have never compromised the value they placed on integrity and friendship. Our goal has always been to maintain those same values in our everyday business relations with our customers, principals and employees. As an organization we are extremely proud of our past and continue to recognize the importance of the future, while remaining true to the high standards that form the foundation of who we are today.
